01 — Overview

Rack-Mount Dual Source Load Bank | Data Centre Dual Power System Testing

The Rack-Mount Dual Source Load Bank is an all-in-one validation platform for data centre mission-critical power systems. It simulates full IT/industrial loads while verifying seamless switching between primary and backup power paths, enabling one-stop commissioning of power infrastructure and ATS.

Liquid-Cooled Load Bank = Resistive Heating + Liquid Cooling Cycle + Integrated Testing. It eliminates the need for separate test equipment, cutting commissioning time for dual-source setups.

Power Loading (Simulating Server Load) Liquid-cooled resistive elements convert electrical energy into heat at defined rates. Each load step can be independently switched, providing precise server load simulation for ATS and UPS testing.
Heat Generation & Direct Conduction Generated heat is directly conducted to the liquid cooling circuit through high-efficiency thermal contact. This eliminates forced-air requirements and enables silent, fanless operation inside server racks.
Liquid Cooling Cycle (For CDU & Rack Cooling System) Heated coolant circulates from the load bank to the facility's CDU or rack-level cooling loop, where waste heat is rejected. This closed-loop cycle enables efficient thermal management without exhausting hot air into the data centre.
Control & Protection PLC-based control system independently manages both A/B channels with real-time monitoring of current, voltage, power and temperature. Built-in over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature and phase-loss protection with test data logging and export capabilities.

06 — Applications

Applications of Rack-Mount Liquid Cooled Load Bank

Six primary applications where the rack-mount liquid cooled load bank provides commissioning and validation capabilities that single-feed air-cooled units cannot match.

CDU Acceptance Testing

Validate CDU thermal performance under controlled load conditions. Simulate real server heat load to verify cooling capacity, flow rate and temperature differential before deploying actual IT equipment.

Dual UPS Redundancy Testing

Test partial load transfer between redundant power feeds at 50%, or custom ratios to validate N+1 and 2N UPS redundancy configurations. Confirm UPS redundancy works as designed under partial load.

Partial Load Transfer Testing

Monitor switchover performance and thermal margin under partial load to confirm redundancy design works as specified. Prove N+1 and 2N cooling redundancy without full-load shutdown.

Colocation Data Centre IT Load Simulation

Replace real servers as liquid-cooled IT loads during colocation facility commissioning. Verify cross-connection capacity, CDU performance and critical power redundancy at scale.

Black-Start & Emergency Power Verification

Verify black-start paths, generator start-up sequence, and full-load establishment for emergency power systems per L1-L5 commissioning protocols. Validate emergency power readiness under realistic load conditions.

ATS / STS Automatic Transfer Switch Testing

Test ATS and STS switching time, voltage dip, frequency build-up, and load continuity during mains-to-generator or mains-to-UPS transfers. Validate transfer performance and load continuity under real failover conditions.

09 — FAQ

Common Question

What does 'dual Source' mean for a load bank?

Dual Source means the load bank has two independent power inputs — A and B. Each channel has its own fuses, main contactor (KM1/KM2), and metering. It tests dual-power systems the way real IT equipment draws power — with a primary and a standby input.

What is the difference between dual feed and single feed load banks?

Single feed = one power input. Tests one circuit at a time. Dual feed = two independent power inputs. Tests A-to-B failover, dual UPS redundancy, and parallel UPS systems. A dual feed unit can also be used as a single feed unit if only one channel is connected — making it more versatile on site.

Can the power rating be customised beyond 50kW?

Yes. The standard unit covers 6-50kW total (A channel: 0-50kW, B channel: 0-50kW). Extended ratings up to 200kW+ and alternative voltages (480V, 690V) are available. The heating resistor configuration (KM3-KM11) is scaled to your specification.

Can you supply liquid-cooled versions?

Yes. Batterlution supplies the full liquid cooling chain — liquid-cooled load banks, CDU units, and chillers. The dual feed unit can be configured with liquid-cooled heat rejection for high-density or high-ambient-temperature installations. One supplier, one FAT, one warranty.

What certifications does the unit carry?

Certifications including CE for European and Middle Eastern markets can be provided upon request, with additional compliance documents arranged to meet your project requirements.

How do I get a quotation?

Send your power requirements, voltage, application, transfer ratio, and communication protocol. We will confirm the configuration and issue a formal quotation within 48 hours. No obligation, and custom configurations are welcome.
