Common Question

What does this unit replace in the commissioning sequence?

It replaces liquid-cooled servers at the rack level for CDU acceptance testing, and also performs the same PDU/UPS/generator load testing as a standard rack air-cooled load bank. In a liquid-cooled data centre, this unit replaces two separate pieces of equipment.

How does it connect to the CDU?

The unit connects to the CDU liquid return circuit via fittings configured to your specific CDU model at the factory. Specify the CDU make and model at enquiry — the connection configuration is confirmed before order and built into the unit. No adapters required on site.

Does it need active communication with the CDU to operate?

No. Standard commissioning does not require active communication with the CDU — the load bank generates thermal load and the CDU responds automatically. The optional Modbus CDU link is used when engineers require coordinated load-step testing or precision regulation accuracy measurement.

What power range does each unit support?

Standard configuration supports 30–50 kW per unit. The 6–50 kW range covers most rack-level CDU test requirements. Multi-unit parallel is supported for higher total thermal load. Maximum total power is confirmed at quotation.

How does this compare to the floor-standing liquid-cooled load bank?

The rack-mount unit is designed for rack-level CDU commissioning — it replaces servers inside the data hall. The floor-standing liquid cooled load bank is designed for full electrical plus cooling chain commissioning — larger thermal loads, outdoor or plant room installation, simultaneous power system and chiller testing.
